Jerrold and Weeraya Kippen attended Ally Law’s global Annual General Meeting in New Delhi, 6-9 March 2019. Jerrold also moderated the break out panel on Managing Disputes Across Several Jurisdictions during the Corporate Counsel Client Conference with panelists that included Meenakshi Iyer (Advaya Legal), Arpinder Singh (Ernst & Young LLP), Gary Copelovitz (Lipa Meir & Co.), and Sameer Chugh (Airtel).
Misunderstandings regarding the new foreign worker law
The changes to Thailand’s foreign worker law that came into effect over the last few years have significantly liberalized the prior restrictions.
However, some legal commentators have taken this good news a bit too far.
NO, foreign directors of investment promoted companies or of companies that qualify to operate under the Thai-American Treaty of Amity and Economic Relations, are NOT now free to work without a work permit, as we explain in our latest legal column, “Misunderstandings regarding the new foreign worker law“, in The Phuket News.
